Scotland: Drastic reduction in children’s exposure to second-hand smoke
Results from the Scottish Health Survey published in September 2016 show a dramatic reduction in the proportion of children exposed to second-hand smoke at home. In 2014 the Scottish Government set an ambitious target to reduce the percentage from 12% to 6% by 2020 and the latest survey shows that this target has been achieved 5 years early.
The Scottish Minister for Public Health and Sport, Aileen Campbell, congratulates the positive results of the campaign Take it Right Outside, which has aimed to reduce the exposure of children second-hand smoke at home with the consideration for the particular susceptibility of children second-hand smoke.
